Infertility

For women under the age of 35, infertility is defined as inability to get pregnant after a year of trying. Women over the age of 35 should seek help after 6 months of not being able to conceive.

In the United States, 1 in 5 women between 16 and 49 years old suffers from primary infertility (infertility having never conceived). There are different causes of infertility including endometriosis, anovulation, ovarian, tubal factors and male factors such as low sperm count or low testosterone.

There are lifestyle, medical, and surgical treatment options, depending on the cause of the infertility. Diagnosis of the cause can involve the following procedures:

  • Pelvic exam
  • Hysteroscopy
